Trans identity in Hollywood films

in collaboration with ASD È vento nuovo, Circolo Arci CCFT APS, Circolo Arci MissKappa APS

Language: Italian

In the beautiful setting of Sant’Osvaldo Park, FVG Pride will participate at the screening of “Disclosure: Trans Lives on Screen” (2020), a documentary directed by Sam Feder and focused on the lives of transgender people and their impact on culture and the film industry.

You will find us from 6.30 p.m. at our stall and you can enjoy an aperitif at the kiosk run by Circolo Arci MissKappa APS. As it gets darker, at around 8.45 p.m., we will attend the outdoor screening of “Disclosure”. Free admission to the screening!

Films throughout Hollywood history have portrayed several transgender characters, think of The Danish Girl, Boys Don’t Cry and Dallas Buyers Club. Nonetheless, there are very few transgender actors and directors in the business. And the ones most people can name can be counted on the fingers of your hand.

This paradox caused the distorted portrayal of transgender people made by the film industry since its early days. In “Disclosure”, Feder tells the story of trans representation in cinema from beginning to end: starting with silent films, through Psycho, Nip/Tuck, Sex and the City and Ace Ventura, to the TV series Pose (2018), the first with a mainly transgender cast.

This event is part of the 24th edition of Feste d’Estate al Parco di Sant’Osvaldo – Udine
